Strong As a Mother!

The next great issue of The American Feminist® “Strong As a Mother” will be arriving in mailboxes across the country soon!

In this issue, we honor the strength and dignity of mothers, strong women in our lives, strong women in history, and celebrate 30 remarkable years of FFL President Serrin Foster’s leadership.

Editor Joyce McCauley-Benner contemplates what the “Shout Your Abortion” movement has told us (and the history leading up to it) about the unmet needs of pregnant women.

Our readers share with us their own stories of persevering during challenging times as mothers.

Serrin challenges the euphemisms that hide the truth behind abortion advocacy.

Caseworker and former FFL Board Secretary Sharon Long praises the enduring strength of her clients during the hardest of times.

Supporters honor strong women in their lives.

In celebration of Serrin’s 30th anniversary, we share part one, First Wave Feminists, of her acclaimed speech “The Feminist Case Against Abortion.”

We honor the suffragist Julia Ward Howe, often known for writing “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” and who also called for the first Mother’s Day.

Our celebration of suffragists continue by exploring the story of Dr. Mabel Ping Hua-Lee, a young Chinese-American who fought for women to vote.

We share an excerpt from Frances Ellen Watkins Harper’s powerful address at the Eleventh National Women’s Rights Convention in 1866 challenging suffragists to consider the plight of black women.

You won’t want to miss this issue!

Please, if you haven’t already, renew or sign up now to get this timely issue and share with the strong women in your life!
