We would first like to acknowledge all of you who called, emailed, and wrote your U.S. representatives. Thank you for being a voice for the voiceless.
We especially wish to thank those of you who contacted House members you knew would likely not agree with us but did so anyway.
Sadly but unsurprisingly, with abortion advocates controlling the House, we lost the vote to stop the fatally flawed Equal Rights Amendment.
But there is hope. There is the Senate.
The fight for the 19th Amendment took 72 years, and we are likewise 47 years into the effort to protect women, teenagers, and unborn girls and boys. Don’t give up.
Here is what we are up against: Look at this Valentine’s Day fundraiser sent out yesterday by the National Women’s Law Center, which is part of the constellation of abortion advocates pushing for the ERA’s passage, despite the deadline being long expired.
According to NWLC’s “Abortion Actually” campaign, “abortion actually is healing. It’s trust in ourselves and those we care about. It’s freedom. And it’s an act of love — for our families, our communities, and ourselves.”
It is sickening to read.
We know abortion is not freedom — and certainly not love. Abortion is a sign that we have failed to meet the needs of women. Women deserve better®than abortion!
So as we celebrate 100 years of women’s right to vote, here’s a sneak preview of “Pedaling Toward Freedom,” the next issue of our biannual magazine, The American Feminist.

Or, if you are able, please give more so we can live our legacy of “better conditions, better surroundings, better circumstances for women,” as Susan B. Anthony said on her 80th birthday.
Twelve decades later, we long for a day when the root causes that drive women to abortion — lack of accommodation at school and in the workplace and lack of paternal support — are addressed, because as Anthony herself said, simply addressing abortion would “only be mowing off the top of the noxious weed, while the root remains. We want prevention, not merely punishment. We must reach the root of the evil, and destroy it.”
So as we prepare to celebrate Susan B. Anthony’s 200th birthday this Saturday, as well as the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment later this year, help us honor her legacy, as well as that of Alice Paul, author of the original Equal Rights Amendment whose life’s work was destroyed by the successful attempt to link it to abortion.
Help us help the most vulnerable on campus, in the workplace, and beyond, so that equal rights for women will never mean the “right” to hurt and kill women and children. Because that’s real love actually.
