Now Introducing: FFL's Project GraduāteA simple, effective way for you to make a difference at a campus that matters to you!June 9, 2011 Do pregnant students at your alma mater have the resources they need?
At most colleges and universities in the United States, the answer is no. So what will you do about it? Alumni, especially former student parents and grad parents, and parents of current students have a great deal of knowledge and influence. And it's time to make it count. Please join Feminists for Life in our new PROJECT GRADUĀTE. We will provide sample letters and advocacy tools so that you can hasten the day when women don't feel forced to choose between their children and their education. FFL is also developing a NEW NATIONAL DIRECTORY OF PREGNANCY AND PARENTING RESOURCES to help pregnant and parenting students and advocates like you to better understand what is (or is not) happening on campus! (More on this important development later.) All you need to do is to convey your interest and support for pregnant and parenting students to university officials. A little effort will go a long way. Your financial support is also essential--please give what you are able so that we can continue our work for this underserved population. To get involved, read on below and stay tuned for FFL's emails. If this message was forwarded to you by a friend or family member, subscribe here now! Thank you. Because women deserve better, Project Graduāte: BackgroundFeminists for Life is renowned for our pro-woman, pro-life commitment. We recognize that abortion is a reflection that our society has failed to meet the needs of women. This is especially true of college-aged women, who represent half of all abortions. We are dedicated to systematically eliminating the root causes that drive women to abortion-primarily lack of practical resources and support-through holistic, woman-centered solutions. For college students, it is essential that we make changes to strengthen the support systems and resources available to them. Student groups around the nation have already used FFL's Pregnancy Resources Survey and Pregnancy Resource Forum to make positive changes, such as the ones at Georgetown and Pepperdine. Students deserve praise and recognition for these impressive achievements. Leadership from our members has also been vital to these efforts. Participation by all women's advocates and pro-life activists will help us achieve our goals faster. That's why we are calling on parents, alumni, current students, donors, activist groups, and school officials to join together for a common cause. Cooperation will be the key to our revolution. When alumni share their interest and encourage administrators to develop a specific resource, administrators are happy to listen. Adding alumni and parents to pro-life advocates currently on campus creates the perfect trifecta to change the campus culture. Project Graduāte: InformationThose who decide to participate in Project Graduāte will not be doing it alone! We will help you every step of the way and provide you with all the resources YOU need to succeed! The new Pregnancy Assistance Fund is in place for colleges and high schools around the nation, thanks in part to FFL's continual support and our groundbreaking report, "Perception is Reality." Furthermore, FFL has already begun working on a comprehensive directory of available on-campus services, and will soon offer opportunities to partner with other key groups on the revolutionary Project Graduāte. These new resources will be a great asset to all those hoping to improve the circumstances for pregnant and parenting students. FFL hopes that Project Graduāte will not only assist student parents in choosing the best school to meet their individual needs, but also pregnant women, birthmothers, and expectant fathers currently enrolled in college. Advocates participating in FFL's Project Graduāte will be able to see what specific resources are lacking, determine possible next steps for their alma mater, and contribute information when new resources are developed and progress is made. Now is your chance to get involved. Keep an eye out for FFL's emails. And if this message was forwarded to you by a friend or family member, subscribe here now!
