Expanding Your Education on a Shoestring

September 19, 2011

"Investing in your education can pay off in greater income, employment options and job security," writes Beth Ackerman in "Expanding Your Education." "One of the key steps is determining the support network you have for completing your education."

As Beth points out in this week's "Raising Kids on a Shoestring" article, a good education is a valuable asset parents can keep even when others may be lost, providing their families a measure of security. There are longer term benefits too--the level of education attained by parents now will be a major factor in the future educational and occupational success of their children.

"Expanding Your Education" helps pregnant and parenting students (and prospective students) consider many approaches toward increasing their educational opportunities and locate useful tools and resources.

You know we are especially passionate about identifying and expanding resources and support for pregnant and parenting students. Feminists for Life's College Outreach Program is one of the many ways FFL resists the feminization of poverty, working to reduce poverty among women and children.

If you want to ensure that pregnant women, expectant fathers, birthparents, and parents have the support they need and deserve, please join us--as a member, as an activist, as a volunteer.

And please forward this email and share "Expanding Your Education" with your friends, family members, and coworkers.
