Thanksgiving 2004
Dear friend,
As you may know, the television show I have been a part of for nine years, "Everybody Loves Raymond," will be wrapping up this year. While I will miss my role as Debra, I look forward to more time with my husband and four boys.
I will also devote more time to helping Feminists for Life change the culture.
Perhaps, like me, you have been hoping, striving, praying for a day when abortion will be unthinkable. When women's life-giving capacity will be supported and celebrated, and all children will be welcomed.
In order for this day to come, our culture must change.
I am convinced-as are FFL's Honorary Co-Chair Margaret Colin and many othersthat Feminists for Life is the group that can change the culture.
There are other fine organizations that do important work. Because of their efforts, individual women receive help, individual children are saved. Each one of these lives is precious.
But we must set our sights higher. Millions of other precious lives are still being lost to the tragedy of abortion.
FFL's aim is to address the roots of the problem, changing the culture and ending abortion through women-centered solutions.
We're already making progress on college campuses, with FFL's groundbreaking College Outreach Program.
When FFL President Serrin Foster and I went to UCLA, I saw firsthand how FFL's message of hope changes students' hearts and minds. FFL is touching the lives of those who are at highest risk for abortion. Because of FFL, more and more of the next generation will refuse to choose between women and children.
And it's not just college campuses. Thanks to FFL, Capitol Hill is another place where the culture has begun to change. It is exciting to hear members of Congress repeat our refrain, "Women deserve better!"
Recently FFL has stepped up efforts to spread the Women Deserve Better® message worldwide, especially to Latin America where women and children are at risk of losing their legal protection from abortion. In Brazil and Uruguay, for example, recent challenges to legal protection from abortion have been defeatedin part because of the work of FFL.
I hear feedback all the time from people who had felt all alone in their pro-woman, pro-life beliefs and who are grateful to Margaret and myself for stepping forward with FFL's uniquely hopeful message.
When I look at FFL's strategic approach, its powerful message, its women-centered solutionsI know that I have made a smart investment in the future.
That's important to me. I want my children to be a part of a world that cherishes each new life, respects women and honors the contributions of fathers.
So here is our challenge for change. For every dollar you donate, Margaret and I will double it.
We are counting on you to take us up on this challenge. One of the most important ways we give back is by contributing to FFL.
If you send a gift of $25, FFL will get $50. If you send $100, FFL will get $200.
A former board member will double any new or increased monthly gift. So if you sign up to give $25 a month, FFL will receive an additional $50. If you increase your monthly gift from $25 to $40, FFL will get twice the increase, or $30 more.
Nothing would make Margaret and me happier this holiday season than increasing our support for FFL by matching your gift. Please join us in helping FFL change the culture to protect the precious gift of life.
Because women deserve better,

Patricia Heaton
Honorary Chair
P.S. Margaret Colin joins me in this Challenge to Change the Culture. Give as generously as you canand we will double your contribution.
New and increased monthly pledges will be double-matched by a former board member. If you work for a corporation that matches gifts to 501(c)(3) nonprofits, your employer may double the gift too! Please include that form as well.
I am counting
on you. Those we serve are, too. Only FFL can change
the culture and end abortion through women-centered solutions. We can
make this the best year yet for women and children. Let us hear from you
by December 31.
